NVIDIA is set to release a new version of the GeForce RTX 4070, but it’s not the same model that debuted 16 months ago. This updated version will include GDDR6 non-X memory. Videocardz has already confirmed its existence and even shared a design image. Interestingly, the packaging looks just like the original, which could lead to some confusion among consumers who might not immediately notice that it’s a refreshed product.

Board partners suggest that the new RTX 4070 will likely perform similarly to the original model, even with a 5% reduction in bandwidth due to the switch from GDDR6X to GDDR6 memory. Although this might cause a slight dip in performance, it’s important to remember that not all tasks heavily rely on memory. Key components like the CUDA core count, TDP, and clock speeds are expected to stay unchanged.

Board Channels reports that the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 with the new GDDR6 memory is expected to hit the market around August 20th. However, this may not be the official release date, but rather a general timeframe for when the updated model will start appearing in stores. It remains uncertain if NVIDIA will formally announce or launch this new RTX 4070 version, but it seems the product will be widely available worldwide.
