Final Thoughts
NZXT has come out with another gaming mouse and it does the job. If you are looking for a no-frills gaming-grade mouse that is just that a mouse then this is the perfect mouse for you. I found it to be a great mouse for shooters and simple games where I would not want to map any keys to mouse buttons. For gamers playing MMO’s like World of Warcraft this might not be the mouse for you because of the lack of buttons and there are not that many customizable options.
I do like the the LED’s on the mouse, they give it a cool effect, but if you are not a fan of them you can turn them off. I initially was not a fan of the “skinny” design but after using the Avatar S for a few days I was used to it. As I said this mouse is simple and it that is what you are looking for it is a good choice.
There is not that much I did not like about the mouse, but the 400 DPI setting was not that great at all. The mouse is a little on the light side for a gaming mouse, something I noticed right away. Also a warning about the white version of the mouse it does get dirty very easily. But luckily NZXT has a black version of the mouse.
For the price of $40 you may have some other options out there, but if you want a simple, easy to use and configure mouse this Avatar S is it. Overall ThinkComputers gives the NZXT Avatar S Gaming Mouse an 8 out of 10 score.
Pros:
– Simple no-frills mouse
– Ability to turn the LED’s off
– Adjustable DPI
– Available in white and black versions
Cons:
– Other mice with more options available for the same price
– Low DPI settings
– The white version can get dirty easily
– Not that heavy for a gaming mouse
