OCZ Platinum DDR3-1600 4GB Low Voltage Dual Channel Memory Kit Review

Overclocking
I began by running Memtest86+ on the OCZ Platinum DDR3-1600 overnight. There were no errors.

I spent a considerable amount of time experimenting with the OCZ Platinum DDR3-1600 just to see what I could get out of the speed and timings. It is much easier with the P55 chipset, no voltage experimentation is necessary since the max is 1.65v.

The first thing I tried to do is tighten the timings at the advertised DDR3-1600. I was able to get down to DDR3-1600 6-7-7-24. This shows flexibility, someone with a system that may not overclock can still see some performance gains by tightening the timings.

Next I raised the memory speed as far as I could with the timings still at 7-7-7-24. I raised the memory speed to a stable DDR3-1705. This gave a significant performance boost as will be seen in a moment.

Finally I went for a max overclock while keeping the timings as tight as I could. I was well pleased with a clock of DDR3-1948 9-8-8-24. That’s just shy of 22%.
