Patriot Viper V570 and V570 Blackout Edition Gaming Mice Review

Usage and Final Thoughts

In our day-to-day usage of both versions of the Viper V570, we found it to be a very comfortable mouse. The slightly scooped left and right mouse buttons held our fingers in place without being too form-fitting, and the two sides of the mouse provided good contouring to provide a nice grip on the mouse. The textured rubber thumb grip added even more precise control of the mouse when it came to our gaming sessions.

Speaking of gaming, we used the V570 to play quite a bit of Epic Games’ Fortnite Battle Royale, and the extra buttons really came in handy. While our “daily driver” mouse only has two side buttons, the eight side buttons on the V570 allowed us to access our building options much quicker in the heat of battle. By configuring each button to be a different item such as a wall or ramp, we were able to quickly build our defenses while under fire, or to build a quick ramp to gain the high ground on our unsuspecting target. This proved to be much more efficient than scrolling between building items, and really improved our results.

Another aspect of the V570 that made our testing quite enjoyable was the inclusion of the ceramic mouse feet. We have used a few other mice in the past with similar feet, and they are our preferred mouse foot material. The ceramic material just seems to glide much more smoothly on both cloth and hard mouse surfaces, leading to more accurate movements in games, and a bit less fatigue as well. Performing a side-by-side comparison between a mouse with PTFE feet, and the V570 with its ceramic feet offers up a clear difference between the two materials.

With a current $49.99 price tag for the standard V570, and $59.99 for the Blackout Edition over at Amazon, neither version of the V570 is a budget buster. We were quite surprised at the low price of the V570, due to its long list of features that are often found on high-end gaming mice. The 13 customizable buttons provide a world of options with regards to custom mouse and keyboard functions, as well as more advanced options like custom macros. Add in the seven RGB LED lighting zones that can be configured via the included software, and you have a pretty decked-out mouse. The added bonuses of an adjustable weight system, as well as the super smooth ceramic mouse feet, and we think that the Patriot Gaming Viper V570 and V570 Blackout Edition are fantastic options for a gamer looking for a new mouse with the latest features. Overall, we give the Patriot Gaming Viper V570 and V570 Blackout Edition a 9 out of 10 score and our Good Value award.
