Raijintek Iris 12 RGB Fans Review

Installation & Usage
Getting these fans installed is quite simple. We will be installing the Iris 12 RGB fans in the mean:it 5PM Tempered Glass Case. Raijintek does include mounting screws, but one thing about these fans is that you’ll need to make sure you have enough 4-pin fan headers available. Unlike other kits that we’ve reviewed the controller with this kit is for RGB control only, so you’ll need to run the 4-pin PWM cables on the fans to either your motherboard or fan controller. Luckily we have a fan controller built into our case. Then you’ll have to run the RGB cables from each fan to the controller. As I mentioned these fans cannot be daisy-chained or anything like that.

Now you are going to want to make sure you connect your fans in order going down the controller. Certain effects will not display correctly if say you connect the middle fan to the first connection on the controller, so make sure you keep that in mind. Here are our fans installed before we put the tinted tempered glass panel back on the front of our system.

The lighting on these fans is just great. The diffused O-ring on the front part of the fans with the RGB LEDs behind it really lights things up! This combination really makes it look like the O-ring is a single light, only if you look from an angle can you tell there are separate RGB LEDs inside.

Since Raijintek used clear fan blades you also get some illumination there as well as towards the center of the fan. Check out the photo below to see how this illumination is different from other RGB fans we’ve reviewed.

RGB COMPARE

Using the included controller you can switch between the 20 different LED modes that are offered. All of the different LED modes are listed on the Iris 12 RGB product page. While you can cycle through seven different colors which include red, yellow, green, teal, blue, purple, and white. I would say that the effects are sufficient, especially compared to a lot of RGB kits out there. I was a little disappointed that the brightness controls on the remote didn’t do anything, although you can fully turn the RGB lighting off. Here are some shots of the fans in action!
