Raijintek Iris 12 RGB Fans Review

Final Thoughts
Here we are with another RGB fan kit, so how did this one do? Well as I mentioned earlier in this review Raijintek definitely improved upon their AURAS 12 RGB fans. The Iris 12 RGB fans are brighter, offer more customization, effects, and just look better. The diffused O-ring design of the fan frame with the RGB LEDs sitting underneath is a great combination and really makes these fans look like they are a single light, rather than a bunch of LEDs. These fans are some of the brightest we’ve reviewed and they not only have frame illumination, but also blade illumination. There are 20 different RGB settings, including the very popular RGB wave, which looks awesome! So when it comes to looks these fans are some of the best we’ve seen.

But when it comes to control and customization these fans are a bit lacking. We do have to point out there is no software with these fans and they use proprietary RGB control cables so you can’t connect them to a standard RGB header on your motherboard for control. This means you also can’t match them up with other RGB components in your system. We’ve seen RGB fan kits that include a fan controller, but this kit does not, so you’ll need to have at least 3 open 4-pin PWM headers available on your motherboard or a fan controller. The included controller allows you to switch between the 20 different RGB setting as well as turn the RGB illumination on or off, but there is not brightness control which is a bummer. So I would say this kit is a little limited when it comes to customization.

A 3-pack of these fans that comes with the controller and remote is selling for $39.99 on our favorite online retailer, which is not a bad price really. If you are looking to do single colors throughout your build or the RGB wave this kit would definitely work for you, just keep in mind there is no software control or the ability to hook these up to your motherboard. Overall ThinkComputers gives the Raijintek Iris 12 RGB Fans an 8 out of 10 score.
