With PCI-Express 4.0 finally being available on both AMD and Intel platforms there are quite a lot of Gen4 NVMe solid state drives to choose from. These offer amazing speeds over traditional SATA-based solid state drives and even newer PCI-Express 3.0 NVMe drives. Today we are going to be taking a look at Silicon Power’s US70, which makes use of the Phison E16 controller and Kioxia 96-layer TLC NAND. That combination will give you sequential read and write speeds of 5000 MB/s and 4400 MB/s respectively, while also packing in a very high endurance rating (TBW) of 3600TB (2TB version) and a 5-year warranty. Let’s take a look!
Special thanks to Silicon Power for providing us with the US70 PCIe 4.0 NVMe Solid State Drive to review.
Specifications
Packaging
The US70 comes in a very small package, it actually reminds me of the packaging that you see with SD cards. It honestly makes sense as M.2 drives are very small. On the front of the package it lets us know the capacity and that the drive comes with a 5-year warranty.
We received the 2TB version of the drive, but it is also available in a 1TB version. On the back of the package there really is not a whole lot of information.
Opening the package up all you’ll find inside is the US70 drive in a small clamshell package.
