SilverStone MS12 Enclosure Overview
Taking a first look at the MS12 it has your typical “candybar” design which makes it easy enough to throw in your pocket or laptop bag. It has official dimensions of 106.15mm (W) x 15.3mm (H) x 33.3mm (D) and weighs in at 53g without a drive installed.
The drive sort of has an industrial design, but that is because the enclosure itself actually acts as a heatsink for your NVMe drive as it is made of aluminum. On the top we have the SilverStone logo as well as a small “MS12” logo. The drive itself is not all that thick at only 15.3 mm.
On one end of the drive you have a single USB-C connection an an indication LED. The USB connection is a USB 3.2 gen 2×2 connection so if your drive is fast enough you can max out the connection to 20 Gbps.
There are four hex screws that hold the enclosure together. Using the supplied screwdriver you can take remove them to gain access to the inside of the enclosure. Inside we find a simple PCB with an M.2 slot. This enclosure will support 42mm, 60mm, and 80mm M.2 drives. There is also an included thermal pad on the lid of the enclosure.
