Are you planning to upgrade to all Gen4 NVMe drives? What do you do with your old Gen3 drives? You could sell them, but you can also repurpose them into a portable M.2 enclosure. While there are many enclosures out there SilverStone’s MS12 sets itself apart as it makes use of a USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 interface giving you 20 Gbps bandwidth and also its aluminum alloy casing which will help keep your drive nice and cool. Let’s take a look and see if this is the ultimate M.2 enclosure!
Special thanks to SilverStone for providing us with the MS12 NVMe M.2 Enclosure to review.

Packaging
The SilverStone MS12 comes in a very nice retail box. On the front there is a picture of the enclosure and lets us know it using a Type-C interface and has speeds of 20 Gbps. Flipping over to the back we have a full list of specifications as well as information on the cooling protentional of the drive.

The front of the box sort of opens like a book and you can get a look at the enclosure before you buy and even more features are listed. Opening the box up and getting everything out we have the MS12 enclosure, a Type-C cable, hex screwdriver, thermal pads, and a set of hex screws.
