SilverStone PP07E Braided Extension Cables Review

Installation

Before we get to installation let’s take a look at our test bench and see what we have going on. As you can see our power supply uses flat cables, which don’t look too bad, but there is always room for improvement.

Before you install your cables you are going to want to install the included cable combs. The cable combs will keep the cable looking nice once you have it installed and will make it easier to bend. I would first find out how you want you cable to be routed then install the cable combs. It would be very annoying to install the combs only to find out you’ve installed them on the wrong side.

With our cable combs installed we went ahead and installed both the 24-pin ATX and 8-pin EPS connectors. As you can see our results look far better than the cables we had installed previously.

Final Thoughts

Getting your build to look exactly the way you want it is never easy. If you are a fan of individually sleeved power supply cables you have a few choices. You can individually sleeve your own power supply, you can buy a full kit made for your specific PSU or you can buy extension cables like we have here. If only the ends of your cables are going to show the easy way to go is with the extension cables. This option will also save you quite a bit of money depending on what cables you need. Right now the 24-pin ATX extension cable is selling for $25.88 while the 8-pin EPS and 8-pin PCI-Express cables are $10.99 each. That is much better than paying well over $100 for a full cable kit, not to mention these cables will be compatible with any build, while the full kits are only compatible with the PSUs they were made for.

As far as the quality of the cable you won’t be disappointed either. The sleeving is high quality and each of the cables are sleeved all the way into the connector so you won’t have to worry about the sleeving coming off. Each cable comes with four cable combs which keep them looking nice and makes it easier for you to install them. Overall I really don’t think you can go wrong with these extension cables, I am just disappointed that there are not more color options.
