After about 9 years, Tesla has officially announced that the updated Model S will receive a new infotainment system featuring the Tesla Arcade gaming platform. As per the announcement, the infotainment system will have 10 teraflops of processing power. There’s no information on the chip, but it is expected to be AMD silicon.
As per the rumors, the Model S might be powered by an AMD RDNA2 chip, most probably Navi 23 GPU. It is a mid-range GPU, which AMD has not announced yet. There are rumors that the GPU will feature 32 Compute Units equating to 1048 Stream Processors. The GPU should be clocked at 2.44 GHz to provide 10 TFLOPS of power.
In a tweet, Elon Musk has confirmed that the new infotainment system is capable of running Cyberpunk. Official renders state that it can also run Witcher 3 which is pretty amazing.
The refreshed Tesla Model S can be ordered for $80K. It will be launched in March, which might be in synchronization with AMD’s new announcement of their upcoming chip that will be used for a discrete graphics card named the Radeon RX 6500 series.
