Thermaltake ISGC-100 CPU Cooler Review

Overview

The Inspiration of Silent Gaming Cool, ISGC, line of coolers is new to the Thermaltake product line. The four coolers in the ISGC line all come equipped with the ISGC 12 fan which we just reviewed. The ISGC 12 fan offers a different approach on the standard fan design decreasing fan noise by 3%, increasing airflow by 15% and giving the fan a total lifetime of 50,000 hours. In addition to the feature all of the ISGC CPU Coolers have Hydro Dynamic Bearing (H.D.B.) Technology, a Copper+ Base and Sawtooth Fin Design. Today we will be taking a look at the ISGC-100, the first of four reviews to come.

The ISGC-100 offers a total of 3, 6mm copper heatpipes. It may seem like there are a total of five heatpipes, but this is only because two of the heatpipes extend through the base and loop back around. The three heatpipes that run directly through the fins have a plastic cap on the end, which probably only add to style for the cooler.

The small 92mm ISGC fan covers the entirety of the heatsink, so this gives you a general size for the cooler. The sawtooth fin design of the heatsink allows cold air intake to become smoother which increases cooling performance and reduces noise.

The Copper+ Base as Thermaltake calls it is a combination of copper base and aluminum extrusion. The highly polished copper base provides an optimal surface for contact between the CPU cooler base and the CPU. The aluminum extrusion dissipates some of the heat before it reaches the fins, giving it a more efficient design than standard CPU coolers.
