The WD My Cloud EX2 Ultra is not actually much larger than the drives that are inside, so you should have no problem finding a place for it on your desk. The official dimensions are 165 mm x 99 mm x 157 mm (HxWxD). The unit is currently only available in the dark grey version that you see below.

On both the top and bottom there are ventilation holes to help the drive breathe. On the bottom there are four rubber feet that will keep the NAS in place on your desk. At the top there is a button that when pressed in will let you inside the NAS.

Once inside the NAS we can see our two drives. These are held in place by a metal bracket. Keep in mind you can get a version of the My Cloud EX2 Ultra that does not come with drives. The drives have stickers on them that let you know which bay they belong in.

There are plastic tabs on the drive that easily allow you to pull them out. With each drive removed we can see we have two WD Red 4TB drives.
