Other World Computing, a.k.a. OWC, brought its new Thunderbolt lineup to CES Unveiled, along with a brand new Mac Pro to show off how well its storage and expansion units fit with the new black motif.
The Thunderbay IV is a quad-bay SATA enclosure serving up to 16 TB of JBOD storage to a computer connected via Thunderbolt. It has two ports, so daisy-chaining devices is quite possible. Imagine six of these units daisy-chained – that’s almost 100 TB of storage connected via a single port!
The On-The-Go Pro is a Thunderbolt external enclosure for a 2.5″ laptop hard drive up to 1 TB.
The Mercury Elite Pro Dual is a dual-bay SATA enclosure that can serve up 8 TB of storage in RAID0, RAID1, JBOD, or as individual drives. It offers USB3 connectivity in addition to Thunderbolt.
OWC also showed the first and only available PCI-Express expansion system for Macs. It connects via Thunderbolt and provides two PCI-Express slots, with one extra slot available for double-height cards.
Pricing and availability for all of these products was not available at press time.
