T-Force Vulcan G Solid State Drive Review

Vulcan G SSD foreground

The days when an SSD was a luxury seen in only the most expensive of builds are now just a thing of the past. In the past, you may have had a single 240 GB SATA SSD, or maybe even an M.2, but generally used standard hard drives for the bulk of your storage. However, with the emergence of NVMe drives and the prices of flash memory dropping, SSDs have become far more accessible to the general public. Now, the 2.5″ SATA SSD has in a way replaced mechanical drives as the go-to for gamers and content creators alike.  Whether you’re building a new system, increasing, or just upgrading your storage, there are SSDs that can fit into just about any budget and capacities up to 8 TB.  However, there are several things to take into consideration when buying an SSD. Aside from the capacity of the drive, you should also consider the endurance of the drive, or how long it will last, the overall performance of the drive, and even the warranty. But for me, a companies reputation goes a long way and Team Group is a name I’ve grown to trust over the years. So when they asked us to take a look at the 512 GB variant of their T-Force Vulcan G 2.5″ SSD, we happily agreed. The 512 GB T-Force Vulcan G SSD is a 2.5″ SATA 6 SSD that offers read speeds up to 550 MB/s and write speeds up to 500 MB/s. But with so many companies producing solid-state drives in 2020, why should you go for the T-Force Vulcan G SSD? We rand the 512 GB T-Force Vulcan G SSD through our suite of benchmarks to try and answer that question. So, let’s see how the Vulcan G SSD did.

We’d like to thank Team Group for providing Thinkcomputers with their 512 GB Vulcan G Gaming SSD for review.

There is a depiction of the Vulcan G SSD in the center of the box that takes up the majority of the front of the packaging. At the bottom right there is a list of some of the key features of the drive such as the 2.5″ form factor, both TRIM, and S.M.A.R.T support, as well as SLC caching.
