Acer’s reveal of the Nitro Blade 7 at IFA 2024 was likely the company’s most significant announcement. With this release, Acer is joining the growing gaming handheld market, opting for an AMD Ryzen processor. However, the design isn’t groundbreaking, as it offers little in terms of innovation.

ETA Prime reveals that the Acer Nitro Blade 7 is essentially based on the design of the Terrans Force Handle. Terrans Force released a similar handheld over eight months ago with the AMD Ryzen 7 7840U processor and had intended to upgrade to the 8840HS used by Acer. It seems Acer acquired the rights to this design. The key question is how alike the devices are, and ETA Prime notes that the differences are minor, mainly revolving around the APU, which was never used by Terrans Force.

The primary distinction between the existing Ryzen 7 7840U design and the Nitro Blade 7 is the upgrade to the Ryzen 7 8840HS. Although it’s essentially the same silicon, it is rated for slightly higher power. Aside from this, the Nitro Blade 7 features the same 7-inch display, but with a higher refresh rate of 144Hz compared to the Terrans Force’s 120Hz.

Neither Acer nor Terrans Force has announced a release date for their new designs. However, it’s anticipated that Acer’s Nitro Blade 7 will be released before the anticipated Handle 7.
