AMD FX-9000 Series Processors to Cost $920 and $576

Last week AMD announced their FX-9000 series processors, which included the FX-9590 and FX-9370. These processors made headlines and the FX-9590 was the first ever consumer processor to offer a 5 GHz speed. A couple of days later it was revealed that AMD would only be selling these chips to system integrators, but not that may not be the case as they have popped up for pre-order online.

The store that has listed the processors is PCSuperstore. They have the both the FX-9590 and FX-9370 available for pre-order for $920.31 and $576.27 respectively. These retail boxed processors hold the part numbers FD9370FHHKWOF and FD9590FHHKWOF and the “WOF” suffix suggests that the chips will not come with a heatsink / fan. The prices are lower than Intel’s high-end Core i7-3930K and Core i7-3960X extreme processors, but not by much. With such high TDP’s it will be interesting to see how well these processors will sell.
