AMD releases Ryzen Threadripper PRO series of workstation CPUs

AMD is back at it with another launch. A couple of days ago, we had reported about the details of the full Ryzen Threadripper PRO lineup being leaked. Now AMD has made the series official. Read on!

AMD just released the Ryzen Threadripper PRO, with a total of four SKUs in the range. AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 3945WX is a 12-core 24-thread chip with a base frequency of 4.0 GHz and boosts up to 4.3 GHz. The 3955WX has 16 cores and 32 threads with a base clock of 3.9 GHz and boost clock of 4.3 GHz. The 3975WX has 32 cores and 64 threads running at 3.5 GHz and boosts up to 4.2 GHz.

The highlight of the range is AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 3995WX. It is a 64-core 128-thread chip clocked at 2.7 GHz, and 4.2 GHz boost clock. These chips are exclusively designed for workstations, and will not be sold on the consumer market. We will see the Ryzen Threadripper PRO chips only in OEM-made workstations.

The Lenovo ThinkStation P620 will be the first workstation powered by Threadripper PRO 3995WX7, with other OEM workstations expected to arrive later.
