Apple Silicon iMac Will be Powered By M1-Based 12-Core SoC With 16 GPU Cores

A tipster named LeaksApplePro tweeted that production for Apple’s own Silicon-based iMac ison track, and the product might be ready in the next 1 or 2 months.

The leakster also claims that the iMac will arrive in two different display sizes and will house the new M1-based 12-core SoC. The designated code numbers are mentioned below:

•J456 – 23-inch model
•J457 – 31.5-inch model

It’s the first time that Apple will provide iMacs with an increased display size as previously, the iMac was offered in 21.5-inch and 27-inch display sizes. The tipster also shared that the cooling system will also be upgraded but did not mention what impact this will bring on the iMac’s thickness.

Previous reports have stated that iMac will either feature the M2 chipset or an A14T SoC using TSMC’s 5nm technology, but the tipster says that it will have the M1 chip with 12 cores. The processor’s 8 cores will focus on performance, and it will provide a clock speed of 3.20GHz. It is also expected to have 16 GPU cores.

Moreover, the Magic Keyboard and Magic Mouse might get a redesign, and the ergonomics of the Magic Mouse will be improved. The charging port position will also be changed. Apple is also working on a new Magic Trackpad.

The tipster also said that the iMac will launch in the following colors: Silver, Space Gray, Green, Sky Blue, and Rose Gold.
