Apple to Redesign iMac This Year

Various reports suggest that Apple will completely redesign its upcoming iMac based on Apple Silicon this year.

Mark Gurman from Bloomberg states that the redesigned ‌iMac‌ models will have slimmer bezels around the display and the large aluminum “chin” segment located below the display of current iMacs has also been eliminated to offer a screen focused design. As per Bloomberg, the upcoming iMac will share the same looks as Apple’s Pro Display XDR monitor released back in 2019.

The upcoming iMacs are expected to have a flat back. Previous rumors stated that the upcoming iMac will take inspiration from the “iPad Pro design language,” due to its squared-off edges and slim profile.

As per analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, one of the iMac models will have 24 inches display, while the other one is expected to be larger. The 24-inch model will have the same physical appearance as the previous 21-inch iMac but will house a 24-inch screen due to its thinner bezels.

The iMac received various hardware upgrades but it was based on the same design since 2012 so making this redesigned iMac with a new chip is the  biggest upgrade since 2012.

The upcoming models will offer next-generation Apple Silicon chips paired with an enhanced custom GPU but it may miss out on the Face ID.
