CD PROJEKT RED Hacked, Cyberpunk 2077 Might Suffer

CD Projekt has released a statement confirming that they have been a victim of a cyber attack. An unknown individual has hacked into CD Projekt servers giving him access to data of released and unreleased games.

The hacker was able to get into the  CDP capital group’s server. A Perforce server has been affected, which serves the purpose of data sharing within the company. CD Projekt has not confirmed what contents were stored in the server but assures that it will be recovered. The hacker has encrypted all the data and demands to be contacted. In case the company does not comply with him, the hacker has threatened to release the data to the public, which includes source codes too.

As per the message released by the hacker, the following files were accessed: source codes for Cyberpunk 2077, Witcher 3, Gwent, and the unreleased version of Witcher 3. The hacker might have gained access to accounting, administrator, legal, and investor relations information too.

The company has been having a tough time since the launchof Cyberpunk 2077. The game was not optimized for last-gen consoles. A lot of bugs were also reported, and CD Projekt removed some of the promised game content. The Cyber attack just worsens the situation.
