Apple Watch Gets Almost 1 Million Pre-Orders On First Day

Apple’s Watch seems to be a pretty popular product already, according to digital commerce data company Slice Intelligence almost 1 million US consumers have pre-ordered the device. The report that was released on Sunday estimates that 957,000 people had pre-ordered the smartwatch Friday. This is based on the e-receipt data collected directly from consumers. Each order was for 1.3 watches, spending $508.83 per watch.

For those who were ordering the Apple Watch Sport they spent an average of $382.83 per unit and those who went for the Apple Watch spent $707.04. Notably absent from the report were pre-order figures for the premium Apple Watch Edition.

The Apple Watch does come in two sizes, 38mm and 42mm. 71% of consumers decided on the larger case. When it came to color choice 40% of buyers went for the Space Gray aluminum case, followed by the stainless steel at 43%. The most popular band overall was the Black Sport band with 49%.
