Final Thoughts on the ASUS ROG Strix G16 (2025) Gaming Laptop

I’ve been using the ROG Strix G16 for the past few weeks as essentially a desktop replacement and I’ve really enjoyed the experience. I’ve been around gaming laptops for a very long time and having one that isn’t necessarily massive or too heavy to carry with you that still provides desktop-like performance to me is impressive. The ROG Strix G16 actually did fit into my current laptop backpack and the little over 5lbs again isn’t too heavy in my opinion. So if you are thinking about taking this to and from work or travelling a lot with it, it is not going to be that bad. Another thing that is nice is that you don’t have to take the massive power brick with you everywhere, one of the Type-C ports does support 100W charging.

Of course the biggest thing here is going to be your gaming performance. We threw the exact gaming tests at this laptop that we throw at fully fledged desktop graphics cards, so maxed out settings, and mostly no DLSS or frame generation. In our testing at the native 2560 x 1600 resolution the RTX 5070 Ti was easily able to get over 60 FPS in the AAA titles that we tested and if we dropped the resolution down to 1920 x 1200 we were easily able to get over 100 FPS. Given the RTX 5070 Ti teamed with the AMD Ryzen 9 9955HX3D you also won’t run into any CPU-limiting scenarios at that 1080p resolution. You’ll also be able to find a good balance between performance and features like ray tracing depending on the title you are playing.

I really do like the display that ASUS has gone with on the Strix G16 too. Rated at 500 nits of brightness it is definitely bright enough and being an IPS panel at 240 Hz it is going to be great for gaming. You can really push it with your esports titles! On top of that the extra vertical space makes it quite good for productivity as having two windows open side-by-side doesn’t feel too weird. Talking about productivity it was really cool to get a number pad on the touchpad, I actually ended up using it quite a lot.

I think that ASUS made a great choice teaming the AMD Ryzen 9 9955HX3D with the RTX 5070 Ti on this laptop. I think if you pick this laptop up you are going to be very happy with it. While it may not have the fit and finish as some other higher-end laptops, it excels where it counts where of course is performance. Overall ThinkComputers gives the ASUS ROG Strix G16 (2025) Gaming Laptop a 9 out of 10 score.
