ASUS ROG Strix RTX 4080 Super OC Graphics Card Review

Ray Tracing & DLSS Testing

The RTX 4080 Super features 320 4th generation Tensor cores and 80 3rd generation RT cores. So you will be able to enable things like real-time ray tracing and DLSS, specifically DLSS 3.0. To test this we first run 3DMark’s Port Royal benchmark.

Next we run the Bright Memory RTX benchmark. We run this benchmark at 4K resolution and have RTX at “High” and DLSS at “Balance”.

Moving on to games we decided to turn RTX on in both Cyberpunk 2077 and Far Cry 6. In Cyberpunk 2077 we enable all RTX features and set the quality slider to medium. In Far Cry 6 we enabled all RTX features. Keep in mind that our non-RTX scores for those are:

Cyberpunk 4K: 56.87
Far Cry 6 4K: 115

DLSS is a great technology and one that you should really take advantage of if a game you play supports it. Basically it renders the game at a lower resolution and then up-scales it to the resolution that you are running. The new RTX 40 series takes advantage of DLSS 3.0. So to test this we run the DLSS benchmark in 3DMark. We select DLSS 3.0, quality set to performance, and resolution set to 4K.

As you can see without DLSS 3.0 enabled we get an average FPS of 41.11, but with DLSS 3.0 enabled we get an average FPS of 136.84. This technology definitely enables gaming at higher resolutions.
