AYN’s Teases Its New Handheld With Mini-LED display

The gaming handheld market is branching out in various directions. Some players lean towards high-fidelity gaming with top-notch resolution and frame rates, while others, nostalgic for old titles, seek a blend of vintage charm and modern tech, like vibrant screens. Additionally, there are enthusiasts of emulation and those drawn to specific design aesthetics.

AYN appears to be targeting the second group with their latest offering, which weighs a mere 320 grams. This alternative competes directly with AYANEO’s Pocket S, which tips the scales at 420 grams, making it 31% heavier than AYN’s latest offering.

While weight is merely one aspect, the spotlight is on the Mini-LED display, a novelty in gaming handhelds. AYN claims the screen will deliver a peak brightness of 1,100 nits, a contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1, and cover 155% of the sRGB color gamut.

As per AYN, the ‘320g’ system won’t support Windows, indicating it’ll run on either Android or another Unix-based system. While no information about the processor is provided, considering the form factor, it’s unlikely to target high performance. Further details are anticipated soon, with the company sharing updates on their official Discord channel.
