be quiet! Dark Power Pro 11 850W Power Supply Review

Final Thoughts
When I first saw a power supply from be quiet! I was actually blown away by the fit and finish of the unit. You can tell by its elegant and solid design that you are getting a product that is going to last. The Dark Power Pro series has been the flagship power supply series from be quiet! and you can see why. The latest revision the Dark Power Pro 11 brings with it a new 80PLUS Platinum certification and array of enhancements making this unit the most technologically-advanced power supply be quiet! has ever built!

be quiet! sticks to their namesake and as expected this unit is very quiet during operation. The 135 mm Silent Wings 3 cooling fan is barely audible during operation. Our test system had a be quiet’s own Dark Rock TF cooler inside and the two combined really makes for an almost silent system! the way the fan is mounted in the power supply and the unit’s dual-layer housing also helps to keep things nice and quiet.I had to double check to see if the system was even on because it was so quiet!

When it comes to performance based on our testing the Dark Power Pro 11 has great voltage regulation, definitely what we expect from be quiet’s top of the line unit. You also get an 80PLUS Platinum certification rating meaning the unit is going to operate with 92% efficiency at normal loads. Another cool thing when it comes to performance is the ability to switch the power supply from quadruple independent 12V-rail mode to high-performance single-rail operation mode using the overclocking key.

Other things that stood out about this unit were all of the accessories that came with it. You have the ability to plug in up to four fans to the unit for clean power delivery. This is one of the only units I’ve seen recently that comes with the velcro cable ties, these are just awesome! The unit has a single-cable molex connection. This is for motherboards that need an extra molex to power PCI-Express slots. You could also use it if you only have a single Molex device in your system. I really like this as you don’t need to use a cable with multiple connections and have more cable mess in your system.

Right now this unit is pretty hard to find online. We expect a MSRP of around $189 – $220. be quiet! backs the unit with a 5-year warranty as well. Overall ThinkComputers gives the be quiet! Dark Power Pro 11 a 10 out of 10 score and our Recommended Award!
