Cyberpunk 2077 Has Sold More Than 13 Million Copies, Despite Performance Issues

We can surely conclude two things from Cyberpunk 2077. First, it had a ton of glitches and it was poorly optimized for current-gen consoles which forced retailers to offer refunds. Despite this, it was a success as the game managed to cross 8 million pre-orders but that’s just the pre-order figure, many people might have purchased the game after it’s launch too. As per a recent press release by CD Projekt Red, the game has already sold 13 million units, and yeah the returns are excluded from the count.

Based on reports obtained from digital distribution platforms and data collected from physical distributors, it estimates that by 20 December inclusive gamers have purchased over 13 million copies of Cyberpunk 2077. This figure represents the estimated volume of retail sales across all hardware platforms (factoring in returns submitted by retail clients in brick-and-mortar as well as digital storefronts), aka the “sell-through” figure, less all refund requests e-mailed directly to the Company by the publication date of this report in the framework of the “Help Me Refund” campaign.’

Moreover many companies including Sony, Microsoft, and the developer itself CD Projekt Red offered no-questions-asked refunds for Cyberpunk 2077 hence it would be great to know the return figures but the sales indicate that the return figures haven’t affected Cyberpunk 2077 sales.
