Fractal Design Epoch XL Case Review

Final Thoughts on the Fractal Design Epoch XL Case

Fractal Design has been making “XL” or larger versions of their cases for a little while now. This is not simply just a larger version of the case though, Fractal Design has made some important changes. One of the biggest is that now we have support for back-connect motherboards. We actually mentioned this in our original review so it is great to see Fractal take that feedback and make the change. Also both ASUS BTF and MSI’s Project Zero are extremely popular so it would only make sense for a modern case to support these. Another thing I really like that Fractal changed is the Velcro straps on the backside of the motherboard tray. They have redesigned how they are held into place and I really like it.

Being a larger case means that we of course can support larger hardware. The biggest change from the original that you’ll see in that regard is that the top of the case will support 360mm radiators (the original only supported 280mm). You are also going to get E-ATX motherboard support too! The front also supports 140mm fans and of course you have the three that are pre-installed. Just like the original case you have support for six hard drives out of the box, long graphics cards, and full-size power supplies. In typical Fractal Design fashion all of your storage trays are going to be made of metal too.

There really is not much to not like about this case. It has a sleek design, proper cooling, and is quite easy to build in. Right now Fractal Design is pricing the case at $149.99 for the RGB version and 129.99 for the non-RGB version. Overall ThinkComputers gives the Fractal Design Epoch XL Case a 10 out of 10 score and our Recommended Award!
