Geekbench Results Show AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX Is 15% Faster Than RTX 4080 In Vulkan

The first Radeon 7000 GPU from AMD has been put through its paces in Geekbench tests. The tested graphics card is the RX 7900 XTX, the highest-end model of the RDNA3 family and the only one to have the complete Navi 31 GPU.

The ROG Crosshair X670E Extreme motherboard included an 8-core Ryzen 7 7700X CPU and an AMD RX 7900 XTX graphics card. Reviewers frequently utilize such methods, which is how these conclusions wound up in the public database.

The card was tested with OpenCL and Vulkan APIs using Geekbench Compute. While the software is compatible with the Metal and CUDA APIs, AMD RX 7900 hardware on Windows does not support them.

The official Geekbench Compute charts were not, however, updated to include the new SKUs. As a result, graphics cards such as the RTX 4090, RTX 4080, and even the RX 6950XT are not mentioned. This implies we have to obtain data manually using a minimal set of criteria: the same application programming interface (API), the same operating system (OS), and the exclusion of any outliers.

The RX 7900 XTX outperforms the RTX 4080 in Vulkan API (15%) but falls short in OpenCL (14%). It should be noted, however, that the Geekbench program needs to provide more data to draw any useful results (lack of GPU clocks or driver info). In addition, this is not a test for video games.

Reviewers are expected to undertake further testing shortly, so once well-known synthetic (3DMark/Superposition, etc.) and gaming benchmarks are published, we should have a better idea of how the RX 7900 XTX compares.
