Gigabyte X99-Ultra Gaming Motherboard Review

The Lights!
The X99-Ultra Gaming is loaded with quite a lot of RGB LEDs! This will really light up the inside of your case and since the all of the lights are RGB you can match them with the rest of your lights and components. There are also RGB headers on this board so you can get RGB LED strips and match them as well.

I am going to go over the different light placements on this board. Lets start with the top of the board. On the I/O over there are LEDs that shoot out the side, three LEDs above the CPU socket, and LEDs that light up in between your DDR4 slots. By default these LEDs are red, but remember they are RGB so you can change them to whatever color you would like.

Moving down the board under each PCI-Express slot you have three LEDs. There are rows of LEDs on the PCH heatsink as well as the thermal armor that is covering the audio components.

As I said these are RGB LEDs so you can make them any color. The software also allows for a breathing effect, the colors to rotate, and for the LEDs to pulse to music. You can completely turn the LEDs on the board off as well, but there are no zones so I can’t say turn the PCIe LEDs off and have the memory LEDs on. Here are what some different colors look like.
