HyperX Fury S Pro Gaming Mouse Pad Overview
Once out of the box and fully unrolled, the Fury S Pro XL-sized mouse pad is enormous. At a whopping 900mm (35.43in) wide, and 420mm (16.53in) tall, this is really more than just a mouse pad, but is more of a desk “mat”. Many “standard” sized mouse pads are around 12in by 12in, which is a bit laughable when you take into consideration the sheer size of the Fury S Pro. Being this large allows the Fury S Pro to act as a very comfortable mad beneath both your keyboard and mouse. This offers a cohesive and comfortable work area for both typing and mousing use, and even provides plenty of space for your headphones and cell phone.
The Fury S Pro comes in multiple versions including Standard mat which is optimized for precision, the Speed Edition optimized for speed, and a customized version of each with representation for both Echo Fox and Cloud9 gaming organizations. Our review sample is the largest size of the Speed Edition, and thus has what we would describe as an “energy flow” design to it. The cloth surface of the mat is quite smooth, with no real texture or visible textile pattern. This smooth surface translates to a very comfortable and functional product.
Around the edges of the mat is a heavily stitched border. And while the stitching is quite robust, it does not add much height to the mat, and therefore does not stick up much past the mousing surface. The thread material used for the border is soft and flexible, ensuring that all areas of the pad will be comfortable for long periods of use.
Taking a look at the bottom of the mat, we can see the rubber material that HyperX used to keep the large mat in place. The rubber material has a slightly textured surface for a good amount of grip. HyperX has take a bit of a different approach to the bottom of the Fury S Pro by employing a webbed stitching pattern across the entire bottom surface. This webbing provides a bit of extra lateral strength for the mat, which should help keep it flat and unwarped for a long time.
