Is the HYTE Y50 RGB PC Case Worth Picking Up?
Back in 2022 HYTE introduced their first Y-series case, the Y60. Back then aquarium-style PC cases were very new and the 3-piece panoramic tempered glass design was something truly unique. And while many people have tried to imitate this, HYTE has always pulled it off the best. HYTE improved upon the Y60 and made the case larger with the Y70, and now we have the brand new Y50 RGB.
In my eyes the Y50 really simplifies things and allows for greater hardware compatibility and the fact that it is ready to go out of the box. The Y70 did not come with any fans, so on top of buying the case you had to get fans as well. With the Y50 RGB you technically have 4 RGB fans (one 360mm unit, one 120mm fan) which is all you’ll need to get started. Another welcome change from HYTE is that the actual ARGB connection is standard so no software to install and as long as your motherboard has a 3-pin ARGB connection you are good to go.
When it comes to hardware compatibility HYTE has made this case really accessible for pretty much all hardware. For motherboards you have support for boards as large as E-ATX and this is actually the first Y-series case to support back-connect motherboards. We now have full-length expansion slots so no riser or anything like that. For cooling support you can do three 120mm fans in the top and side mount and both of these mounts support radiators up to 410mm. Another thing I really like about this case is the design of the cable routing holes, which actually make it so easy to route your cables from the backside of the case to the main compartment.
And all of this for just $99. That makes the Y50 RGB the most accessible Y-series case from HYTE, but also at the same time the most refined in my opinion. If you’ve been wanting that 3-piece panoramic tempered glass case without all of the compromises the HYTE Y50 should be at the top of your list!
