InWin Prism (White) Case Review

Final Thoughts on the InWin Prism (White) Case

When I first saw this case earlier this year at Computex I was really excited to get it in to take a look at. And while generally this case is pretty good there were some things that were a bit concerning and could use some improvement. But let’s first talk about what I really like about this case…

For starters the case does come with a four included ARGB fans (3x side-mount, 1x rear) which are pre-wired to the included ARGB controller. This allows you to control the lighting from the button on the top of the case. Beyond the four included fans you have room for six more with support for 360mm radiators. The ARGB strips on the top of the case and around the PSU cover are a nice addition too. This case will also support long graphics cards and back-connect motherboards. Generally, hardware installation is quite easy and straightforward.

One of the biggest issues I do have with this case is how flimsy that front cooling mount is. I am not sure why InWin went with plastic here, but honestly I wouldn’t really trust a radiator on this mount. Also you have to use their specific screws on this mount and there is no real warning about that anywhere. I found this out when I used the screws that came with my fans and they threaded all the way through the mount. Talking about warnings, if you try and pull the front of the case off with the glass side panel installed it will fall off. Luckily when I did this it did not shatter. The cabling on the backside of the case was sort of a mess initially and it would have been nice if the included velcro straps were actually pre-installed in the case. Finally, especially when it comes to cases I am not a fan of them not having a physical user’s guide. Bringing the guide up on your phone is definitely not the best experience.

This next part is not necessarily about the case, but how InWin is marketing it. As I mentioned the beginning of this review the black version of the Prism makes use of a mirror-like side panel. Here are on the white version we just have a clear side panel. This really is not communicated well to the customer on the InWin website. The main image on the product page shows both cases, but only shows the side panel of the black case. As you scroll down it says “Dual Perspective: Transparent & Mirror” touting the mirror finish of the side panel. All of the featured images on the page are of the black version with the mirror side panel. Even in the gallery you have to scroll for a while to see the white version of the case. It is just confusing overall, and if I was someone who bought a white version thinking it came with the mirror side panel I would be quite upset. The mirror side panel was one of the main selling points of the Prism and if you are going to change that I would at least call this something different or do a better job a communicating that that main feature that the black version of the case is known for isn’t present here.

While I couldn’t find the white version of the case for sale, the black Prism is selling at our favorite online retailer for $220. I would say that is a pretty steep price. Maybe tariffs have something to do with that pricing, but I can find many other mid-towers that come with 4 ARGB fans for much less than that. Overall ThinkComputers gives the InWin Prism (White) Case a 7 out of 10 score.
