Intel is going to officially launch its 10th gen Comet Lake-S generation Core series CPUs soon. We know the Core i9-10900K is the flagship mainstream CPU. But the Chinese based review website Techlab was generous enough to leak its comparison graphs. Interestingly, it paired the CPU against AMD Ryzen 9 3950X and the 3900X.
What we know about the Core i9-10700K so far…
What’s interesting is that based on the markings on the Core i9-10900K CPU, it is very obvious its from a retail pack. Usually, review units supplied by Intel and by its partners have “Intel Confidential” imprint, indicating its a press sample. The What we know so far about the 10th generation CPUs is that it uses a brand new LGA 1200 socket, but uses the same mounting dimensions as the LGA 115x. The Core i9-10700K is a ten-core/ twenty-thread CPU base/ boost clocked at 3.7 GHz/ 4.8 GHz with 20 MB L3 Cache and a 125w TDP.
Test method and leaked benchmark performance
The reviewer tested this on an Intel Z490 chipset motherboard. Both the AMD Ryzen 9 CPUs were tested on the MSI X570 MEG GODLIKE. They were accompanied with HOF 10th anniversary OC Lab Edition RTX 2080 Ti, an 850W PSU. The AMD system used DDR3 3800MHz with 15-16-16-38 @ 2T timings, while the Intel variant was clocked at 4000MHz with 18-22-22-42 @ 2t latency.
TecLab did run many tests involve WinRAR, Photoshop, After Effects, SuperPI, Cinebench R15 & R20, HWBot X265 and a few more.
Power consumption
While the Intel Core i9-10900K is able to keep up, the power consumption is pretty high at 338 watts. The 3900X and the 3950X have 263w and 306w respectively.
Alas, the pricing is not known about this CPU. But since its just a matter of days, let us just keep an eye out for its overall performance and pricing from a known trusted source.
