Lenovo hasn’t shared much about its upcoming Legion Go series, only indicating that a new device will be announced when it’s ready. In contrast, competitors like ASUS with the ROG Ally X and MSI with the Claw featuring Lunar Lake are already launching new devices.
In May, there were hints that Lenovo might introduce a smaller version of its console. However, aside from the reduced screen size, no additional details or release date have been provided. The product page for the Legion Go suggests that the series might undergo some changes, possibly related to this update.
The page notes that the new device will feature two fans, compared to the single fan in the current Go model. It also lists screen size of 7 inches, while the current version has an 8.8-inch screen. Additionally, the page mentions that the handheld will include an HDMI port, which the current model lacks.
It’s worth noting that these updates to the product page appeared several weeks ago, possibly fueling rumors of the smaller 7-inch variant. These changes were made after the release of the current Legion Go model. Beyond hardware specs, Lenovo needs to improve its software offerings. The community is frustrated with the slow rollout of features, which are often already available on competing devices. On the plus side, it’s relatively easy to mod or install official AMD drivers. Some users have already tested features like AMD Fluid Motion Frames 2 (still in beta) with special performance modes for integrated graphics on the Legion Go.
Neither ASUS nor Lenovo have confirmed plans to release handhelds based on AMD Strix Point. In fact, no company, including Chinese manufacturers, has made such an announcement. It appears they might be waiting for the Strix Halo, which is rumored to have more powerful graphics, or AMD is still finalizing the specs for the Ryzen Z2 series.
