Lenovo Yoga 9i (2023 Model) Overview
Lenovo has kept the same overall chassis design that we saw from last year’s Yoga 9i. Last year Lenovo completely redesigned the chassis and gave it a more sleek design with its rounded edges and chrome accents on the side. We see that here in the 2023 model. We have the “Oatmeal” version of the laptop, which is more of a silver color, but it is also available in “Storm Grey”. For those wondering about size the official dimensions of the laptop are 15.2mm x 318mm x 230mm / 0.6″ x 12.52″ x 9.06″ and it weighs in at 3.09 lbs.
Lenovo is also keeping the same type of design language on the lid of the laptop with both a Lenovo logo and Yoga logo on opposite corners.
As we look at the laptop from the side we can see just how thin it is as well as those sleek chrome accents and curved edges. On the left side of the laptop you’ll find a USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A port and two USB 4.0 / Thunderbolt 4 Type-C ports. The Type-C ports support Power Delivery 3.0 and DisplayPort ALT mode 1.4.
On the opposite side there is a 3.5mm combination audio port, USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C port, and a power button with integrated LED. This USB port also supports Power Delivery 3.0 and DisplayPort ALT mode 1.4.
When you open the laptop up you find one of my favorite things about this year’s Yoga 9i, the OLED display. This 14-inch display features a 2.8K (2880 x 1800) resolution, 90 Hz refresh rate, a glossy touchscreen, and 100% DCI-P3 color space. You do however have the choice of a 4K OLED display as well. Towards the top of the screen you will notice a notch which houses the 1080p FHD + IR Hybrid camera.
Just like the 2022 model the keyboard area on the laptop is a bit larger than others, this is because Lenovo has gone with a 16:10 screen. The keyboard is very much your typical Lenovo keyboard with chiclet-style keys. The function-row keys are smaller and there is an extra set of four full-size keys on the right side. These are what Lenovo calls “1-click functions” and include a power profile toggle, a toggle to blur the background on video calls, a audio profile toggle, and a toggle between Windows 11 light and dark modes. Disguised as the 5th key on the right side is a fingerprint reader. The glass touchpad is also pretty large.
Built into the hinge is part of the sound system or as I like to call it the sound bar. In the hinge you’ll find two front-facing tweeters and then you have 3W subs on each side of the laptop. This speaker system was designed by Bowers & Wilkins and supports Dolby Atmos.
