Lenovo Yoga 9i (2023 Model) 14-inch Laptop Review

Final Thoughts

Last year the Lenovo Yoga 9i was one of my favorite laptops of the year and this years version brings with it some new improvements and once again is at the top of my list of laptops to get in 2023. One of the biggest improvements is going to be the screen. This year we have a 16:10 OLED screen which you can get in either a 2.8K (2880 x 1800) or 4K (3840 x 2400) option. This screen is simply amazing which is going to make working, watching media, etc so much more enjoyable. On top of that it is a touchscreen which can be used with the included Precision Pen 2. If you are someone who prefers to write things down instead of typing them you’ll definitely like using the Precision Pen 2.

Beyond the screen you do have a new 13th gen processor (Core i7-1360P) as well as a faster PCI-Express solid state drive. Last years model topped out at 3300 MB/s read for the included drive, but this year we see speeds of up to 7000 MB/s. That mean that Windows is going to load faster as well as your games and applications. The Core i7-1360P is no slouch either, I did not run into any issues while using the Yoga 9i no matter what I threw at it.

This is of course a Yoga laptop, which means you can set it up in different ways. You can of course use it like a normal laptop, lay it flat, set it up like a tent, and even flip the screen completely around and make it a tablet. Tent mode definitely comes in handy if you are on a flight as you know how small tray tables can be! I keep having to mention it but this laptop has the best sound I’ve ever heard on a laptop. It will definitely fill a small room and is just impressive! I also have to commend Lenovo on sticking a USB-A port on this laptop. Almost every new laptop has all USB-C ports and for those who need a single USB-A port it is quite annoying to have to buy a dock. Having a single USB-A port solves that.

The unit we took a look at today is the 14-inch Oatmeal version (Part Number: 83B1001WUS), which appears to only have a single configuration. This configuration includes the Core i7-1360P, 16GB of DDR5, a 512GB M.2 SSD, 14-inch 2.8K OLED display, and Windows 11 Home 64. This specific unit is selling for $1149.99 directly from Lenovo, which I think is a good deal for what you are getting here. Overall ThinkComputers gives the Lenovo Yoga 9i (2023 Model) 14-inch Laptop a 9 out of 10 score and our Recommended Award!
