Testing – Sandra & ATTO
Keep in mind for testing the advertised speeds for this drive are 3500 MB/s read and 2000 MB/s write.
Our first test is SiSoftware Sandra’s Physical Disks benchmark. We run both the read performance test.
ATTO Disk Benchmark measures transfer rates across specific lengths. ATTO uses RAW data, our transfer sizes ranged from 0.5 to 8192kb. ATTO is usually our definitive benchmark for solid state drives.
Looking at these results we can see a definite drop off of performance as the test gets to around t he 8MB mark. This drop-off is not normal and is typically caused by some type of throttling. We ran the test again with AIDA64 open to monitor the drives temperature and we can see that it reaches 89C! Typically drives throttle around 70-75C, so this drive reaching 89C is a bit scary and as you see definitely impacts performance.
