MemTest86 creator has just announced ‘a new era of memory testing’. With the help of this memory diagnostic tool, we can now get visual information on memory modules which are faulty. This allows users to track the modules easily which appear broken in the memory block.
The developer has confirmed that this new feature is going to work on selected DDR5 systems. The screenshots which have been published show the Crucial DDR5-4800 memory, stating that only these specific modules are going to be supported.
The MemTestX86 tool hasn’t received an update since January this year which means that the next big update is quite possibly in line with AMD and Intel’s major updates coming up in Q4.
While AMD is preparing for the launch of the Ryzen 7000 ‘Raphael’, Intel is also all set to launch the 13th Gen Core Raptor Lake-S series. Both these platforms come with support for DDR5-5600 memory, meaning that tools such as MemTestX86 will prove extremely beneficial for identifying faulty memory modules as well as carrying out optimisations.
Direct identification of the bad memory module and the chip. (for specifically selected DDR5 reference systems).
