Final Thoughts on the MSI GeForce RTX 5070 Ti Gaming Trio OC Plus
When it comes to graphics card launches I always get excited. I love to see what these new cards can do and of course convey that to you guys. It seems with the RTX 50 series games and enthusiasts are ultimately left disappointed for multiple reasons. With the RTX 5070 Ti specifically the raw performance gain that we saw in our testing over the RTX 4070 Ti Super was only 6.56% at 1440p and 8.24% at 4K. Typically we like to see something like 15% at a minimum.
So performance is a bit underwhelming, but of course it is priced lower that the RTX 4070 Ti Super was at launch! Yes, the MSRP of the RTX 5070 Ti is set at $749, which makes it $50 cheaper than what the RTX 4070 Ti Super launched at. The big question is, will you be able to get it at that $749 price? There are no Founder’s Editions here and from all of the leaks we’ve seen even “MSRP” cards won’t sell for that price. In my opinion anything over $800 and this card is just not worth it at all.
Then we move on to availability. We’ve seen barely any availability of RTX 50 series cards compared to the actual demand. This of course inflates prices, incentivizes scalpers, and just makes wanting to upgrade or build a new PC ultimately frustrating. On top of that we’ve been told that maybe the first batch of these cards could sell at MSRP, but after that the prices will go up because of demand and upcoming tariffs. NVIDIA obviously knows there is going to be demand, but seems to be prioritizing other products over their consumer products.
All of these factors wouldn’t look good for NVIDIA, but just like we saw with the RTX 5080 there is no competition at this price point and performance level. The Radeon RX 7900 XT is slower and actually more expensive (if we are going off the RTX 5070 Ti MSRP). AMD has decided to not compete at the high-end for their upcoming Radeon 9070 series so the Radeon RX 9070 XT will likely compete against the RTX 5070 (non-Ti). All of this allows NVIDIA to essentially give us less and less each generation.
The big thing with the RTX 50 series is going to be DLSS4 and this is likely why NVIDIA was saying the RTX 5070 will get RTX 4090 performance. Previously with DLSS3 you would essentially get double the frame rate as it would generate a single new frame. With DLSS4 you can now generate 2 or even 3 frames, which brings your frame rate to levels you’ve likely never seen before in certain titles. This is for sure a game-changer, especially if the main game you play supports it.
Now when it comes to the MSI GeForce RTX 5070 Ti Gaming Trio OC Plus card specifically it is a very solid card from MSI. It will sit right below the Vanguard series in MSI’s RTX 5070 Ti product stack (there is no SUPRIM). It has a factory overclock, custom cooling solution, RGB lighting, and a full-coverage metal backplate. MSI tells us that this card will retail for $879.99, which again if we believe the NVIDIA MSRP gives this card a $130 premium. Not exactly horrible, but not great either. But as I’ve said in previous reviews this is not completely MSI’s fault.
This card is going to be a great 1440p card and you can even game at 4K if you turn some settings down. If it is upgrade time for you and you are looking at this card it honestly is a tough sell until we know ACTUAL pricing, and again this is sort of where we are at.
