MSI MEG Trident X2 Gaming PC Review

Final Thoughts

MSI’s MEG Trident X2 Gaming PC is really the cream of the crop when it comes to a pre-built gaming PC. The unit that we took a look at (TriX213NUI001) was their highest-spec’d unit which came with an RTX 4090, Intel Core i9-13900KF, 64GB of DDR5 memory, a 1000W power supply, and a 2800mm liquid CPU cooler! This specification is pretty much the highest level of hardware you can get these days!

With this type of hardware you are going to get some of the best performance possible! In our testing this system can easily drive games in 4K with the settings completely maxed out, and you are going to easily get over 100 FPS in most of titles as well. At 1440p you are going to get close to the 150-200 FPS mark and at 1080p you are going to get well over 200 FPS. So whether you want to play the latest titles with those high-res texture packs at 4K or want to play your favorite esports title at 1080p on a high frame rate display this system can definitely handle it. And this is without NVIDIA specific features like DLSS 3.0, which you’ll get on the RTX 4090 inside this system.

Don’t need all that performance? It does appear there are different SKUs out there that have seems to be configured as an Intel Core i7-13700KF, RTX 4070 Ti, and 32GB of DDR5 or a Core i7-13700KF, RTX 4080, and 32GB of DDR5.

MSI MEG Trident X2 Gaming PC

Beyond just the raw performance of this machine MSI has made it a bit different than your ordinary pre-built. The chassis design of the system definitely stands out and looks pretty sleek sitting on your desk. We can’t forget about the 4.5-inch touchscreen display on the front of the system either. Not only can you put a logo, animation, or short .MP4 file on it, it is also quite functional. It can display system stats, the weather, launch applications, control music, and so much more. It is completely customizable using MSI’s software.

Now of course we come down to price and as configured the lowest price we found for the MSI MEG Trident X2 was $4699 at B&H. I priced out a very similar spec’d on Amazon for $3677 so there definitely is a price premium here. That price premium comes in the form of a very unique system with a functional touch screen on the front and of course the fact that you simply take it out of the box, plug it in, and you’re good to go. No building required. It is also worth mentioning while our system did not come with a USB keyboard and mouse the listing on B&H and others we saw said the unit does come with a “USB Gaming Keyboard & Mouse”.

MSI definitely has a really unique system here in the MEG Trident X2 Gaming PC. If you are willing to pay the price you are not going to be disappointed. And since we are pretty early in the life-cycle of not only RTX 40 series graphics cards but also Intel 13th generation products this system is going to be top of the line for a long time to come. Overall ThinkComputers gives the MEG Trident X2 Gaming PC a 9 out of 10 score.
