MSI Quietly Launches GeForce RTX 3060 Ti SUPER 3X Series With GDDR6X Memory

To be clear, NVIDIA did not recently release a new graphics card called the GeForce RTX 3060 TI SUPER. However, they did release a modified version of the RTX 3060 Ti with faster GDDR6X memory last year. Today, MSI has introduced their own custom version of this card, which they are calling the ‘SUPER 3X’. This card is based on the design of the RTX 3070 SUPRIM and still features the SUPRIM logo on the backplate. It seems that MSI has repurposed some of the coolers left over from the SUPRIM line for this new model.

It is understandable if the name “SUPER 3X” seems a bit odd, especially considering it wasn’t chosen by NVIDIA for their SKU name. When customers see this card, they’ll notice that it’s listed with either 8GD6X OC or 8GB GDDR6X memory, which makes it clear that this is a 3060 Ti model from 2022. Perhaps if NVIDIA had named the card the “SUPER 3X”, it would have been a more appropriate choice.

The GPU specifications for the SUPER 3X are the same as what MSI already provides with their GAMING X TRIO design, including a 1845 MHz boost clock and 265W TDP. Both cards require dual 8-pin power connectors and are considered premium options in MSI’s RTX 3060 Ti lineup.

The card has appeared on certain regional MSI pages, indicating that it may have a limited release or that someone may have stumbled upon it before its global launch.
