MSI Solves 12VHPWR Cable Issues With Simple Solution

We all remember the issues with NVIDIA’s 12VHPWR cables when the RTX 4090 graphics card came out. With many people not properly connecting the cable graphics card caught on fire, cables melted, etc. Well it looks like MSI has a simple solution to this problem. They have developed a two-color connector that shows you if you have the connector fully inserted in either your graphics card or power supply.

PCWorld demonstrated this at the MSI booth at Computex 2023. MSI is using a yellow color on the end of the 12VHPWR cable, as long as you can see the yellow part the cable is not fully inserted correctly. The only way to see no yellow is for the cable to be fully inserted.

These cables will feature the yellow connector on each side, bit it will ensure you have the connector inserted correctly on both your power supply as well as your graphics card. This is a great idea and seems like it would be pretty cheap for other companies to impliemnt as well. If only NVIDIA has thought of this we wouldn’t have had all of those issues initially.
