We have been hearing news about Samsung’s plans to use its Exynos chips in a different device category after Apple announced its 5nm M1 for Macs. It seems like this is going to happen sooner than later as according to a tipster, a new computer featuring Exynos might arrive soon.
Another tipster mentions that Samsung has plans to manufacture Exynos 1000 based ARM chips for Windows-based PCs. The official name for Exynos 1000 is Exynos 2100, which is Samsung’s first flagship 5nm SoC which competes with Snapdragon 888.
Twitter user, Galox, tweeted: Exynos for computers ‘Can’t wait!’. Although he hasn’t mentioned that these ARM-based chips will arrive for notebooks but considering their excellent power efficiency, this is the ideal segment for them. As per a previous leak, Samsung was testing its new SOC, which featured an AMD GPU, and was able to outperform Snapdragon 865.
As per Samsung, it is working with AMD on a new project, so we can expect some good news soon. In other news, Qualcomm is also developing a chip which as the report states will compete with Apple M1.
There’s no release date for upcoming chipsets, but they are expected in Q4 2021.
