NVIDIA is reportedly developing a new mobile graphics card named the GeForce RTX 3050 A Laptop GPU. Although it is part of the current GeForce mobile series, a recent update to the PCI-ID database indicates that this card will have a different architecture. Unlike the Ampere-based GA107 GPU, the new card will utilize the AD106 GPU, which is built on the Ada Lovelace architecture.

Expect to see mixed SKUs in the GeForce lineup, as NVIDIA frequently adjusts its cards to offer more options to its partners or to offload partially defective SKUs. However, the AD106 GPU wouldn’t be our top pick for a new model.

The AD107 GPU has 3,072 cores and a 128-bit bus, just meeting the specs of its predecessor. However, the least powerful AD106 GPU currently in use is the RTX 4060 Ti, which has 4,352 cores. Therefore, it might be more appropriate to use the AD106 for the RTX 4060 (desktop) rather than for an older-generation mobile component.

There is no release date yet for the rumored RTX 3050 SKU, and this is the first mention of this new model. NVIDIA typically does not put much effort into mobile parts as time goes on. Instead, Chinese companies often create hybrid models using mobile chips for desktop use.
