ORICO M.2 Solid State Drive Enclosure Review

Drive Installation

We’ve decided to install our SanDisk Extreme Pro NVMe SSD in the enclosure. This drive has rated speeds of 3400 MB/s read and 2800 MB/s write. Now of course those numbers are PCI-Express 3.0 x4. This enclosure uses PCI-Express 3.0 x 2 and of course USB 3.1 gen 2.

The first thing that you are going to want to do is remove the entire PCB from the enclosure. It should easily pop out no problem. With the PCB removed go ahead and install your M.2 drive. With it installed it should stick up a bit. We are going to have to lock it down!

Next take the included small brass standoff and install it in the notch in your M.2 drive. Then very carefully flip the PCB over and lock down the drive using one of the included screws.

Now go ahead and put the PCB back in the enclosure, close it up, and lock it with one of the included screws. I do like that ORICO included extra screws and brass standoffs. These are very small and can easily be lost so having extras is a plus.
