Fast portable storage is something we all want. Whether you are looking to transfer files faster or you want a drive you can use for portable video editing. The thing about most fast portable drives is that they are limited and you can’t upgrade them down the road. Today we are taking a look at a portable M.2 enclosure that leverages USB 3.1 gen 2 to enable super-fast transfer speeds all in a very small package. This enclosure is the ORICO M.2 Solid State Drive Enclosure and it supports M.2 2280 drives, so you can select which drive you want and even upgrade it down the line if you want. Let’s take a look and see if this is the perfect thing to add to your mobile arsenal.

The ORICO M.2 Solid State Drive Enclosure comes in a nice little retail package that has a picture of the unit on it and lets us know that it is made of aluminum alloy, uses USB Type-C, and supports USAP.
Flipping over to the back we have a picture of the drive in action and a full list of specifications.
Getting everything out of the box we have the M.2 enclosure, a USB type-C to type-C cable, type-C to type-A cable, a bag of screws and mounting hardware, a screwdriver, and a user’s guide. I like that they included the type-C to type-A cable as many people might not have a type-C connection on their device.
