Patriot Viper EV330 M.2 2230 SSD Enclosure Overview
The Viper EV330 is quite small, the official dimensions are 1.77“ (L) x 1.77” (W) x 0.47“ (H) and it only weighs 52g. This makes it really easy to take with you anywhere whether you put it in your pocket or throw it in a backpack.
The enclosure itself is made of aluminum alloy, which not only will protect your drive inside, but also dissipate some heat. On one side you’ll find a Viper Gaming logo and on the other is a window allowing you see inside the enclosure.
On one end of the enclosure you’ll find the only connection on the drive, which is a USB-C connection. This will provide not only data, but will power the drive as well. This is a USB 3.2 gen 2 drive so you can expect speeds of around 1000 MB/s in ideal conditions.
The silicone bumper slides right on to the enclosure and will not only protect it, but also helps so the enclosure does not scratch anything up. While you may think there is a lanyard connected to the bumper, but it is actually the included USB-C cable. This is great as you’ll never forget the cable!
Using the included screwdriver we can remove a single screw on the EV330 and open it up to remove the PCB. The PCB is just large enough to house the M.2 2230 slot and the USB-C connector.
