Patriot Viper RGB 16GB DDR4-3000 Memory Kit Review

Final Thoughts
It seems like everyone has RGB DDR4 modules now, so what sets the Patriot Viper RGB kit apart from others? Well there is quite a lot. First the design and style of the modules. The RGB diffuser is very unique an d just adds a little different style to these modules. Also the Viper logo with the eye-cutouts is a nice little addition too. Patriot is offering the modules with both white and black heatspreaders, which allows you to match them to your build. Although, the white heatspreader versions are only available up to 3200 MHz, whereas the black heatspreader versions are available up to 4133 MHz.

Now the RGB lighting is quite good, while some might complain there are only 5 RGB LEDs the diffuser does a great job lighting up the entire module. I don’t feel there are any empty spots in the RGB coverage. Patriot does have their own software for this memory kit, which is quite good and allows for full customization, even per-LED color customization. On top of that the memory is compatible with ASUS Aura Sync, Gigabyte RGB Fusion, MSI Mystic Light, and ASRock Polychrome Sync so you can match the modules with the other RGB effects in your system.

When it comes to performance this kit is good, but obviously not the best kit we’ve tested. Again you can get this kit in a 4133 MHz version, which would give you better performance. When it comes to overclocking we were only able to get an extra 200 MHz out of the kit, which is a little disappointing.

At the end of the day we really like the Viper RGB kit from Patriot. It looks awesome, the RGB coverage is great, it has its own software, and it has good performance. Right now the 16GB DDR4-3000 kit we reviewed today is selling for $229.51 at our favorite online retailer. Overall ThinkComputers gives the Patriot Viper RGB 16GB DDR4-3000 Memory Kit a 9 out of 10 score.
