Porsche Design and AOC, the display manufacturer, have collaborated once more on a gaming display which is as large as a windshield and embodying the fusion of sports car aesthetics with gaming innovation. While the size claim may be a slight exaggeration, it joins the ranks of 49-inch ultrawide gaming displays, showcasing an award-winning design.
Setting aside any boasting, this display appears stunning based on the renders available, accompanied by impressive specifications. The highlight is undoubtedly the curved (1800R) 49-inch OLED panel, boasting a 5120×1440 resolution, a 32:9 aspect ratio, and an impressive 240Hz refresh rate for high-speed gaming. Thanks to its OLED technology, the response time is minimal, clocking in at just 0.03ms gray-to-gray (GtG).
Featuring a 10-bit color depth and encompassing 99% of the DCI-P3 color space, this display stands out. What adds to its allure is its noteworthy brightness, a characteristic not always associated with OLED. The specifications indicate a peak brightness of 1,000 nits, and it holds the DisplayHDR True Black 400 certification.
“The design approach of the PD49 mirrors the intricate details of a Porsche sports car. The PD49’s sandblasted aluminum cast stand, reminiscent of the steering wheel and wheel spokes of a sports car, anchors the monitor with a sense of grandeur.”
In terms of connectivity, the monitor is well-equipped with two HDMI 2.1 ports, two DisplayPort 1.4 inputs, four USB 3.2 Type-A ports, a USB-C port with 90W power delivery, an RJ-45 input, and 3.5mm headphone and microphone jacks (one each). Notably, it features two 15W speakers with DTS Sound certification and a built-in KVM switch, enabling users to connect multiple devices and control them simultaneously. This proves particularly beneficial on an ultrawide monitor of this magnitude, facilitating more straightforward double-QHD screen multitasking.
The Porsche Design | AOC Agon Pro PD49 is currently available exclusively through Porsche Design, priced at $2,350. This cost clearly encompasses a premium attributed to the collaboration with Porsche Design.
